Gradam Junior Spider / Junior Spider Awards

Bhíomar i GOOGLE HQ I Baile Áth Cliath inniu. Dhéan Isaac cluiche StudyHub. Rug sé ar pháipéirí a bhí ag eitilt agus bhain sé an 4ú áit amach. I gcomhair an 4ú áit fuair sé dearbhán 15 euro. Bhi daoine ag péinteáil aghaidh agus bhi daoine ag déanamh cruthanna as balún. Bhi daoine le nathar mór agus bhíomar in ann ár lámh a chur air. Bhi alán reptíleanna ann. Bhi alán riomhairí ar fáil agus bhíomar ag imirt cluichí orthu. Fuaireamar an-chuid rudaí saor in aisce. Roimh an searmanas bhí fear draíochta agus fear grinn ag cur sinne ag gáirí. Níor éirigh linn aon ghradaim a bhaint amach ach bhí lá iontach againn. Comhghairdeas dóibh siúd a bhuaigh. Féach ar an bhfiseán de phictiúirí thíos.

We went to GOOGLE HQ in Dublin today. Isaac played a Study Hub game where you try to catch paper that is flying around in an airtight box. He achieved 4th place and got a 15 euro voucher. He spent half of the voucher on Match Attax before the train home! People were getting their faces painted and people were making balloons for us. A zookeeper was there with a gargantuan snake that weighed a tonne and you could touch it and hold it. There were a lot of reptiles there and a big tarantula. We got free flashing biros, food, lollipops, coffee, milk and goody bags. There was a magician before the award ceremony and he hypnotised us! We did not win but we had a brilliant day and are really encouraged in our blogging now. Congratulations to all the winners! Look at a video of pictures below.

Ár 3ú Bhrat Glas / Our 3rd Green Flag!

Gradam Glas!

Fuaireamar amach inné go bhfuilimid taréis ár dtriú bhrat glas a aimsiú mar thoradh ar ár n-obair ar an dtéama 'Fuinneamh'. D'oibrigh an Coiste Glas go crua chun an brat a fháil. Bhí lá ar bheagán fuinnimh againn agus bhí monatóirí leictreachais ag dul timpeall ag múchadh na soilse. Táimid an-bhródúil as an ngaisce seo.

We found out yesterday we have been awarded our third Green Flag for Energy. Our Green School Committee worked hard to achieve this. We had a low-energy day and there were electricity monitors making sure everything was plugged out if needed. We are very proud of our achievement!

Sábháilteacht ar an Idirlíon do Thuistí / Internet Safety Talk for Parents

Beidh caint á thabhairt sa scoil ar an Luan an 28ú do thuismitheoirí faoi shábháilteacht ar an idirlíon. Tá saineolaí ag teacht chun caint faoin idirlíon agus smaointí praiticiúla a thabhairt faoi conas deimhin a dhéanamh de go bhfuil paistí sábháilte ar líne. Ta fáilte roimh cách chuig an imeacht saor in aisce seo a bheidh ar siúl i seomra Múinteoir Nollaig ar a 7 i.n. anocht.

Damien Kelliher from Trend Micro will give a presentation at our school on Monday 28th about Internet Safety for Parents. He will give practical ideas about being safe online and answer any questions on this topical issue. This is a free event which will take place in Múinteoir Nollaig's classroom at 7pm this evening. All are welcome.

Tháinig grianghrafadóir ón Evening Echo i gCorcaigh isteach chugainn inniu chun pictiúr a thógaint den dream atá ag dul go Baile Átha Cliaith amarach le haghaidh Gradaim Junior Spider. Bhíomar ag taispeáint suíomh an Junior Spider Awards dó agus ár suíomh féin 'is ár mblag sa seomra ríomhairí. Táimid ag tnúth go mór leis an dturas go Google Headquarters amárach. Go n-eirí go geal le gach duine atá gearrliostaithe!

A photographer from the Cork Evening Echo came in today and took pictures of us because we are going to the Junior Spider Awards in Dublin tomorrow. We showed him the Junior Spider Awards website and our own school site and classblog in the school computer room. We are really excited about the trip tomorrow and are keeping our fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone on the shortlist!

Tionscadail Tír-eolaíochta / Geography Projects

Dhéanamar tionscadail tír-eolaíochta. Roghnaíomar tír agus dhéanamar taighde agus chuireamar eolas le chéile i bhforim scrapleabhar nó Powerpoint. Tá Powerpoints a bhaineann le Anna, Aoife agus Kacie le feiscint ar bun. Tá siad fíor-shuimiúil. Tá na scrap-leabhar le fáil i leabharlann na scoile.

We worked on geography projects. We picked a country and carried out research on it. We presented our information in a scrapbook or a Powerpoint presentation. Aoife, Anna and Kacie's presentations can be seen below. Our scrapbooks are available to view in the school library.

Discover Primary Science and Maths

Inniu bhí 'Lá Eolaíochta' againn síos sa halla. Bhí sé ó rang a 3-6. Bhí an-chuid túrgnaimh agus an-chuid túrgnaimh maithe ann. Tháinig na tuistí isteach agus bhí cead againn dul timpeall go dtí na túrgnaimh eile tar éis. Bhí sé an shuimiúil. Dhéan mé rud faoi Raising Agents le Emma. Chuireamar an-chuid obair isteach ann. Bhí sé an shuimiúil ag déanamh é. Bhí sé an-spraoiúil ag taispeáint é dona naonáin, Rang 1 agus 2 agus dona tuismitheoirí. Dhéanamar 'Photostory' thíos a chuireamar ar Vimeo. Brú ar ár mBlag Eolaíochta le haghaidh a thuilleadh pictiúr.

Today we had a 'Science Day' in the hall. It was by the students from 3-6 class. There were a lot of projects and a lot of very good projects there. Our parents came in to see them and we were allowed to go around and look at the other projects afterwards. It was very interesting. I did a project about Raising Agents with Emma. An comhairle lena moltóirí/The Council with the judges

D'eagraigh Comhairle na nDaltaí 'Seó Talainn' iontach ar an 9ú Aibreán chun talainn éagsúla páistí na scoile a cheiliúradh. Bhí lá gan éide scoile againn agus tugadh leath den airgead go dtí Trócaire. Deineadh sár-jab ar an lá ag gach duine agus táimid fíor-bhuíoch dóibh as ucht an deis seo. Our Student Council organized a school Talent Show to celebrate the many talents within the school. We had a non-uniform day and half of the funds raised on the day went to Trócaire. We are very grateful to them for giving the students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talents! See our performers in the video below.
