Tá Gaelscoil Mhuscraí ag glacadh páirt i gclár na Roinne Oideachais 'Bratach Scoile Gníomhaí'. Is clár é seo a thugann aitheantas do scoileanna a spreagann gníomhaíochtaí fisiciúla agus corp-oideachais i bpobal na scoile. Ta athbhreithniú déanta ar ár bplean corp-oideachais agus feabhasaithe curtha i bhfeidhm chun cur leis an gcorp-oideachas agus gníomhaíochtaí fisiciúla sa scoil. Faoi láthair tá gach saghas spóirt ar siúl againn. Tá idir damhsa, snámh, gleacaíocht, luthchleasaíocht agus an-chuid gníomhaíochtaí lasmuigh ar siúl sa scoil. Bíonn seachtain ghníomhach againn gach bliain.

We have reviewed and improved our provision of physical activity in the school. We offer extra-curricular after-school activities. We dance, swim, play gymnastics and athletics and engage in many outdoor activities throughout the year. We have a much-anticipated Active School Week every year, also. Is fearr rith maith ná droch sheasamh!

We found out at the end of June that we achieved Active School Status. This is a wonderful achievement for the school and the Active Flag Committee. We are looking forward to the flag raising celebrations in September!

Sciath na Scol 2016Tá ár scoil ag glacadh i Sciath na Scol i mbliana. Ta ár bhfoireann peile ag imirt ceithre chluiche i gcoinne Rusheen, Cloughduv, Cúil Aodha agus Inchigeeladh. Guímid gach rath orthu. Our school is participating in the Sciath na Scol football competition this year. Our football team will play against Rusheen, Cloughduv, Cúil Aodha and Inchigeelagh. Go n-éirí go geal leo! |
Comórtas Sacar FAI
Ghlac buachaillí Rang 4- 6 i gcomórtas sacar FAI sa Bhlárna i mí Márta 2017. D'éirigh go han-mhaith leo le foireann amháin acu nár chaill aon chluiche.
Our 4th-6th class boys participated in the FAI Spar soccer tournament in Blarney Utd in March. They did the school very proud with one of the teams finishing without losing any match.

Bhí sacar, rugbaí, iománaíocht, siúlóid urraithe, frisbee, turas scoile, damhsa Gaelach, lá Spóirt againn dár seachtain ghníomhach i Bealtaine 2015. We enjoyed a wide range of activities for our Active School Week in May 2015: soccer, rugby, hurling, Irish dancing, sponsored walk, adventure centre school tour, Sports Day, frisbee and the weekly infant walking club. A very active week was had by all! |

Bhí seachtain fíor-ghníomhach againn. Bhí siúlóid ghníomhach againn, seisiún sacar, scipeáile, cispheile, iománaíochta, sean-chluichí stairiúla, Wii damhsa agus damhsa Gaelach maraon le réimse obair cruthaitheach bunaithe ar an dtéama 'Bí Gníomhach'. Bhíomar ag glacadh páirt i Spóirt na Cathrach agus blitz rugbaí freisin an tseachtain i ndiaidh. Bhí an Coiste gnóthach ag eagrú cluichí gach am lón agus bhí obair bhaile gníomhach againn! Dhún Julie de Faoite an tseachtain le bronnadh don Choiste Gníomhach agus buaiteoirí comórtas sacar na scoile. Féach ar na pictiúirí thíos.
We had an action-packed week in May. We had an active walk, a Skipathon, basketball, hurling agus soccer sessions. We had a hurling blitz, Irish dancing lessons and a Wii danceathon. We played historical games from our grandparents time. We engaged in creative art and writing lessons based on a 'Be Active' theme. Our Active School Committee were busy organizing activities during every lunch and we had 'active' homework! Julia White, from the All-Ireland winning Cork hurling team closed our week with medal presentations to our Active School Committee and inter-school soccer winners. Our activities didn't end there, we had a rugby blitz and Cork City Sports athletics event the following week! Take a look at the photos from the week below.

The pupils on our Active School Flag Committee are making lunchtime a very active experience every Thursday. They ensure the infants are engaged in a range of pre-organised activities and they organize mini-leagues and games amongst the more senior students. Their enthusiasm for activity is infectious!

Tá an Coiste Gníomhach freagrach as an seomra stórais dár dtrealamh corp-oideachais freisin. Táíd taréis órd agus eagar, i dteannta Múinteoir Nollaig, a chur ar an seomra seo. Our Active School Committee are also responsible for organizing our storage room for our PE equipment. They have, along with Múinteoir Nollaig, labelled and arranged all the equipment in an efficient way that makes it easier for everyone to find resources quickly. After every active lunchtime on Thursday they carefully return every piece of equipment to its rightful spot!

Tá bord fógraíochta againn i halla na scoile. Is féidir le gach duine sa scoil féachaint ar cé hiad laochra spóirt na scoile, an nuacht spóirtiúil is déanaí sa scoil a léamh agus foghlaim faoi eagraíochtaí spóirt áitiúla. Tar agus tabhair stracfhéachaint air!

Lá Spóirt / Sports Day
Bíonn lá spóirt ag an scoil ag deireadh an téarma deireannach gach bliain. Bíonn gach saghas rás ar siúl. Faigheann gach naíonáin bonn agus bronntar boinn ar na páistí is tapúla óna bunraganna ar aghaidh freisin. Is ócáíd teaghlaigh taitneamhach é.
We hold a Sports Day at the end of our final term every year. All sorts of races take place. All infants receive a medal and the top sprinters from the junior classes up receive medals also. It is a great family day out and a most enjoyable event in the school calendar.

Traenáil Rugbaí leis an IRFU!
Mar chuid den chlár Scoil Ghníomach chuamar i dteangmháil leis an gcumann rugbaí áítiúil chun ceangailt a spreagadh eadrainn. Mar thoradh ar ár n-iarrachtaí bhí cúpla seisiún traenála againn le Finny on IRFU agus tugadh kit iomlan rugbaí don scoil chun usáid rialta a bhaint as an spóirt seo i measc ár ndaltaí. Bíonn rang 5 & 6 páirteach i blitz rugbaí i mBaile an Chollaigh gach bliain - rud a bhíonn an-spraoiúil.
As part of the Active school programme we have made several contacts with outside agencies to help us add to our active school status. One of the results of our efforts has been a link-up with our local Muskerry club where an IRFU trainer has spent several rugby sessions with our students and given us plenty of equipment to encourage the regular use of the sport within the school. 5th and 6th classes participate in an inter-schools' tag-rugby blitz every year and have great fun on the day!

Trainers from Blarney GAA hurling club visit our school every week to practice drills, develop our hurling skills and play games with every class in the school. We have a great association with our local GAA club and every pupil gains great enjoyment from our hurling/camogie sessions.

Fuaireamar cuairt ó Clare Deasy i mí Aibreáin. Tá Clare ón HSE agus tá sí i bhfeighil gníomhaíocht fisiciúil a spreagadh. Oibríonn sí le scoileanna ata páirteach sa phróiséis chun stádas scoil ghníomhach a fháil. Bhuail sí leis an gcoiste gníomhach agus an fhoireann scoile iomlán. Thug sí an-chuid cabhair agus smaointí dúinn chun gníomhaíocht a chur chun cinn sa scoil. Fuaireamar eolas agus áiseanna iontacha.
Our Active School committee, along with all the teachers, met with Clare Deasy from the HSE in April. Clare is the HSE physical activity co-ordinator. She assists many schools who are in the process of achieving active school status. She gave us plenty of ideas, information and resources to help us develop our activity programme in the school. It was a very interesting and informative meeting.

Club Siúlóide / Walking Club
Bhunaigh Múinteoirí Cáit agus Eimear club siúlóide ina seomraí. Gach Aoine téann na naíonáin amach ar shiúlóid. Bíonn a hataí gréine/cotaí báistí orthu ag brath ar an aimsir. Déanann siad siúlóid deas timpeall an Bhlárnan. Ta fiú measúnú siúlóide déanta acu ar a slí chun cur in iúl dona ranganna eile sa scoil pé acu slí is fearr agus is sabháilte chun siúl. Maith sibh!

Come rain or shine they are out enjoying the fresh air. They even conducted a walkability survey with their teachers to determine the best and safest walk in the school's vicinity for the other classes to use. Maith sibh!

Briseadh Gafa sa rang / Bizzy Breaks in class
Táímid gníomhach gach lá sa rang lenár mBriseadh Gafa ó Chumann Chroí na hÉireann. Bímíd ag gluaiseacht ar an spota ar feadh 10 nóiméad ag cleachtadh gníomhaíochtaí dár láidreacht, solúpthacht agus aiclíocht aeróbac. Ar laethanta fliucha bíonn an Coiste Gníomhach gnóthach ag treorú na páistí le Briseadh Gafa do Laethanta Fliucha.

This an Irish Heart Foundation resource that is designed to get students moving on the spot and develops their strength, flexibility and aerobic fitness. On rainy days the Active School Committee use the Bizzy Break for Rainy Days resource to direct the pupils in physical activity during lunchtime.

Ghlac ár scoil páirt i Lúthchleasa Bhunscoileanna Chorcaí don chéad uair riamh i 2013. Bíonn comórtaisí reatha ag gach páiste chun dul go Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Éiríonn go geal lenár lúthchleasaithe gach bliain le roinnt mhaith ag fáil gradam agus duine nó beirt ag scroicint craobh an Chontae. Bímíd ag súil go mór leis an lá faoin dtor gach bliain!
We participated in Cork City School Sports for the first time in 2013. Preliminary races are held between all the students to qualify to compete in the event in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Our athletes always do well, receiving many trophies and, on occasion, reaching the county final. We all looking forward to this now annual event every year!

Seó Damhsa Gaelach/Irish Dancing Display
Déanaimid damhsa gaelach sa scoil gach Aoine. Cleachtaíonn na páistí gach seachtain le múinteoir Deirdre. Ag deireadh na bliana cuireann sí seó damhsa ar siúl ina dtaispeánann gach rang sa scoil a gcuid scileanna. Déantar é lasmuigh ag brath ar an aimsir agus is ócáíd iontach deireadh na bliana é.
Every Friday the pupils practice Irish facing with Múinteoir Deirdre. At the end of the year each class participates in the Irish dancing display, putting on their own individual displays. This can be held outdoors, depending on the weather, and it makes for a very enjoyable end of year event.
