5th and 6th class received visitors yesterday who taught them a game based on the maths of George Boole. The video of the students playing the game can be found on Cork's technology network: http://www.ceia.ie/. This project is aimed at promoting children's participation in STEM subjects. Fuaireadar turas iontach uaidh agus bhi deis acu ceisteanna a chuir air faoina phost mar Árd-Mhéara. Our Student Council had a fantastic day yesterday visiting the Lord Mayor, Chris O'Leary, in City Hall. They enjoyed a tour of City Hall and spoke to the Lord Mayor about his important job. They received some lovely Cork badges also. Bhi sé go hiontach! Tháinig innealtóir ó STEPS Engineers Ireland isteach chuig Rang a 1 an tseachtain seo mar chuid de sheachtain na n-innealtóirí. Labhair sí faoina post i gceann des na ionad eolaíochta is mó i gCorcaigh - Tyndall. Bhí a cuid cainte fíor-shuimiúil. An engineer from STEPS Engineers Ireland visited the school this week as part of National Engineers Week. A scientist from Tyndall spoke to first class about the important work she does in this major scientific company in Cork. 1st class have been inspired to become engineers! We have a visitor from Japan in the school for three months. Mayu Kubota is her name and we wish her a warm welcome! Mayu will spend time assisting in classrooms and teaching a lesson every week to each class about her beautiful country. It is a great learning experience for both Mayu and the students! A visitor from the Simon Community came to the school today to accept a cheque of €250 from the Student Council after their successful bric-a-brac event before Christmas. 1st to 6th class learned about the benefits of this generous donation.
